Pentax’s Two New 50mm Lenses Look Similar But Take Different Photos
Ricoh has announced two new 50mm f/1.4 lenses that look very similar on the outside but are designed to produce distinctively different image renditions.
Ricoh has announced two new 50mm f/1.4 lenses that look very similar on the outside but are designed to produce distinctively different image renditions.
Last year, Ricoh Imaging released the Pentax K-3 Mark III, which proved to be an excellent (yet expensive) DSLR. Ricoh says the Pentax-DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW is the "ultimate general professional-grade zoom lens" for APS-C DSLR systems like the K-3 Mark III, and I have to say it lives up to that.
If you have been searching for an ultra-wide lens for the Pentax system recently, you likely will come across the $1,400 Pentax-D FA 21mm f/2.4 lens announced late last year. Whether or not you should buy it depends on how much you like Pentax.
Ricoh has announced the HD Pentax-D FA 21mm f/2.4ED Limited DC WR lens for K-Mount full-frame DSLRs. The company says that this ultra-wide prime is optimized for visual characteristics that can't be measured in numerical values alone.
Pentax put a lot of time and effort into making the K-3 Mark III, and it shows: it's a huge leap in tech for a DSLR. But it's still a DSLR in a mirrorless world, and that perception combined with a premium price might hold back Pentax's latest $2,000 APS-C camera.
Earlier this year, Pentax released an 85mm f/1.4 full-frame lens that looked incredible despite its one flaw: it was for the Pentax mount. But MonsterAdapters might just eliminate that issue with its upcoming Pentax K to Sony E adapter.
After first showing off the lens over a year ago, and sharing a few more teasers during a livestream two weeks ago, Ricoh has officially unveiled the HD Pentax-D FA* 85mm f/1.4ED SDM AW—a "next-generation, high-performance" portrait prime for K-mount DSLRs.
Sigma has officially announced its intention to stop producing lenses for the Pentax K-mount. Due to the dwindling number of Pentax users, says Sigma, the brand will shift focus and resources towards developing lenses for mirrorless cameras.
Ricoh today announced two new lenses for Pentax K-mount DSLR cameras: the Pentax HD Pentax DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 ED DC AW and Pentax HD Pentax-FA 35mm f/2.
Ricoh has unveiled two new lenses in its premium Star-series lineup: the Ricoh HD Pentax-DA 11-18mm f/2.8 and the HD Pentax-D FA 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW. Both lenses are optimized for "super high-resolution photography and high megapixel digital SLR cameras."
To the world of lens mount adapters comes a new creation by Adaptist. Called the Pentax K+ Multi-Mount, this adapter takes a unique approach to the mounting system allowing you to attach Nikon F-mount, Olympus OM-mount, Contax/Yashica C/Y-mount and Konica AR-mount lenses (in addition to the standard K-mount, of course) to your Pentax DSLR, all within this one integrated solution.
In addition to the rugged cameras announced earlier, Ricoh also unveiled the long-awaited 1.4x rear teleconverter first mentioned at Photokina in 2008 (H/T to PopPhoto for that little tidbit). Fortunately, they seem to have done a bang up job with it, so we'll excuse the delay.
