The Galaxy S4 Zoom camera/smartphone officially has a newer, sleeker younger sibling. Announced late last night, Samsung has taken a bit of the focus off of the Galaxy S5's camera issues with the release of the new, 10x optical, 20.7-megapixel Galaxy K Zoom -- a smartphone that truly earns the right to be called a 'camera phone.'
Samsung recently sent out an invite to media regarding an April 29th event. As you can see from the image above, Samsung makes use of a bit of a pun to tease the new device, which has already been leaked, both in pictures and specs.
While smartphones have, especially of late, taken to blurring the lines between camera and phone, "smartcameras" like Samsung's Galaxy Camera flipped the idea on its head by putting a phone's operating system on a camera rather than the other way around.
Since then, Samsung has announced a few other options in the same milieu, (e.g. the Galaxy NX interchangeable lens camera and the 10x optical zoom Galaxy S4 Zoom) with fairly little in way of competition on that front. But Chinese electronics manufacturer OPPO is looking to move in on Samsung's territory.
It is probably safe to say that the rumors of an alternate Samsung Galaxy S4 with an improved camera can be given the "true!" stamp of approval. The company has announced the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a smartphone sporting a high-resolution image sensor and optical zoom.
With a mechanical shutter and a 41-megapixel PureView sensor, the leaked pictures and video of the upcoming Nokia Lumia phone codename "EOS" have caused quite a stir.
Nokia, however, isn't the only one that knows how to spring a leak when it comes to high-end smartphone cameras. Samsung also has a high-level camera phone up its sleeve, called the Galaxy S4 Zoom, and yesterday marked its first significant leak.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 hasn't even made it into the hands of everyone who wants it, and yet there's already a rumor going around that the company is working on a different version geared more towards smartphone photographers with an eye for quality.
