Nearly three years after launching the Sony a7C, an ultra-compact full-frame mirrorless camera, Sony has returned to the series with two new cameras, the Sony a7C Mark II and the Sony a7CR.
According to data sourced from the NPD Group, Sony claims it sold the most mirrorless cameras, sold the most full-frame mirrorless cameras, and had the best-selling mirrorless camera model (the Alpha 7 III) in the United States and Canada in 2021.
Over the past couple of years, the barrier to entry for full-frame has dropped significantly—starting with the $1,300 Canon EOS RP, and followed by the almost-as-cheap $1,400 Nikon Z5. But it seems Canon may be planning to release an even cheaper EOS R camera in 2021.
Sony Japan has posted a notice on its website warning that they're going to have trouble keeping up with demand for the new Sony a7S III. Apparently, and to nobody's surprise, pre-orders of the camera "greatly exceeded our expectations."

Leica has released Firmware Update 2.0 for the full-frame mirrorless Leica SL2, and it delivers on a major feature Leica promised at launch. As of today, you can now shoot 187MP photos using the new 'Multishot' mode that this update has added to the Drive Mode menu.
Canon's upcoming full-frame mirrorless cameras will be here very soon. According to the most recent reports, both the heavily previewed Canon EOS R5 and the rumored Canon EOS R6 will be announced together "on or around July 2nd."
