New data released by major Japanese analysis firm BCN+R shows that Fujifilm saw massive growth in market share in December 2021 thanks to the wild success of the Instax Mini Evo. It was so popular, Fujifilm surpassed Sony in overall market share.
While 2020 wasn't a particularly good year for camera manufacturers overall, by the late fall and into the winter the sales number had rebounded, returning to more typical numbers. Through the year, the big three -- Sony, Canon, and Nikon -- unsurprisingly led total production numbers.
BCN Retail has published its April report of camera sales figures in Japan and, as expected, the huge slump in sales continues apace. In March, BCN data revealed a 50% drop compared to 2019; as the pandemic continues to exert a severe economic toll, April numbers show an even greater dip.

Canon and Nikon made a huge splash with their first full frame mirrorless cameras, the EOS R/P and Z6/7 (respectively), but Sony seems to be holding onto its huge market share lead in Japan as excitement over the new contenders wanes.
