A Leica Q Review with Thoughts and Sample Images

I brought the Leica Q with me on a recent trip to Barcelona and Mallorca. I usually travel with a backpack full of Canon gear; this time I wanted to try a more casual approach. The plan was to bring a capable camera I could carry everywhere–something that would take incredible pictures, but wouldn’t drastically affect my experience.

The small and mighty Leica Q got the nod.

How I Created Those Viral Photos Showing a Beautiful Flipped Iceberg, From Start to Finish

Last month, a number of my photos showing a flipped iceberg went viral online and in the media. The video above is a 15-minute overview of what it was like shooting in Antarctica, the gear used to capture the images, and a little bit on the release process and how I manage outreach. I’ll elaborate below, but do watch the video as it includes some video of the iceberg which I haven’t shared previously.

When you think of icebergs, you probably think of those large white objects you see in movies and pictures. In rare situations, they can also be seen in a different form. When the iceberg gets flipped upside-down, it looks like a giant shiny piece of ice that's the color of the surrounding water.
