A photographer is suing Napster for using his image of a musician without the proper license -- in a case that could set a precedent that would require record labels to verify what rights were secured from photographers when their pictures were licensed for use on album covers.
Canadian singer Kalle Mattson just released a music video for his song "Avalanche" that creatively recreates some of the most famous album cover photos in the history of music. Over the course of 4 minutes, Mattson steps into 28 different sets to show what his album cover would look like as other iconic albums. The Ramones, Jay-Z, the Backstreet Boys, and Michael Jackson are some of the artists referenced. Brownie points if you can name the others.
For a recent Music Issue of ESPN Magazine, photographer Mattias Clamer created portraits of 14 famous athletes in the style of iconic album cover photos. Clamer paid a huge amount of attention to detail, which resulted in many of the photos looking nearly identical to the covers they were meant to recreate.
