My first digital ILC (interchangeable lens camera) was the Nikon D40, which I purchased during my senior year of high school in late 2007. That camera was followed by the Canon T2i (550D), which I bought in 2010, primarily because of Canon’s significantly more advanced video features; I have always been an active filmmaker as well as a photographer. With the Nikon D500 now official, I am extremely excited to say I had the privilege of shooting with the D500 to create images for its launch. I started when I was 5 years old on my father's EOS 300 film cameras and have then enjoyed every camera up to and including the 5D Mark III, but there was a problem.

At the end of 2014, Nikon issued a notice saying that fake D800E DSLRs have been discovered during service center repairs. Technicians found that the cameras were actually ordinary D800 DSLRs (a few hundred dollars cheaper) that had their covers replaced with D800E shells.

Here's both a neat picture and a mind-blowing fact for you. What you see above is the IBM Model 350 Disk File from 1956. It weighed over a ton, contained fifty 24-inch disks, and was leased to companies for $3,200 per month. It could hold... 3.75 Megabytes.

Nikon’s newly-announced D750 has impressed those who have managed to get their hands on it thus far, but to properly put it through its paces, DxOMark ran it through its trusted sensor tests.

We’ve known for a few weeks that a Nikon full frame camera is in the works. In our previous coverage we’ve shared some of the initial specs and a reported confirmation of the name, but today we have a few more thanks to a screenshot acquired by Nikon Rumors.

Nikon Rumors is reporting that the mystery full-frame camera Nikon is said to announce at Photokina next month, the one that some speculated would be a 'true' replacement for the D700, will actually be marketed as an "action" camera.

But don't take that to mean that this will be some sort of full-frame GoPro. It's not going to be an action camera in that sense. NR believes it will instead be a Nikon FF DSLR marketed specifically to action sports shooters.

The verdict is in, again. After giving Nikon’s D810 a spin, DxOMark has officially declared the D800 successor the king of sensors. While the improvements to the mid-term update may seem marginally small, DxOMark reports these minor tweaks provide “an excellent result” in improvements.

There are two ways to look at an incrementally improved DSLR: either the company missed an opportunity to improve something that has fallen behind the industry standard, or they are leaving well enough alone and not 'fixing it if it ain't broke,' so to speak.

Nikon's replacement for both the D800 and D800E, the D810, falls into that latter category: an incrementally improved DSLR that probably won't receive too much flack for it.

In a move some will inevitably say was planned by Nikon, but which certainly looks a lot more like a mistake from our end, UK tech website Expertreviews has published (and quickly removed) their entire Nikon D810 review ahead of the official announcement, which is expected late tonight.
