Stunning News Images from British Press Photo Competition
The British Press Photographer’s Association (BPPA) has announced the winners of its 2022 competition.
Britain had a busy news year in 2022 with the death of Queen Elizabeth II, a soccer World Cup, and no fewer than three Prime Ministers either coming or going.
Reuters photographer Hannah McKay has been named the BPPA’s Press Photographer of the Year. McKay documented former Tory leader and Prime Minister Boris Johnson who was undone by a series of scandals and his ill-fated replacement Liz Truss who lasted a little over a month in the job. The talented shooter also captured wildfires in Spain and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.
The competition is ran by press photographers with the aim of showcasing the talented pool of photojournalists whose work regularly graces media in the U.K. and further afield.
