Canon 6D Mark II to Have a New 26MP Sensor, June 29 Unveiling: Report
Canon is getting ready to unveil its new Canon 6D Mark II DSLR later this month, and the camera will reportedly feature a brand new 26-megapixel sensor.
“We’re told that the Canon EOS 6D Mark II will get a brand new and dedicated 26mp sensor,” CR writes. “This keeps in line with the original EOS 6D getting its own sensor.”
The 26MP resolution would be a decent step up from the 20.2MP offered in the original 6D.
This same camera is also known to feature a 3-inch Vari-Angle LCD screen on the back, which will make it the first ever full frame DSLR with an articulating screen.
There are a number of other specs and features being reported with certainty now as well: the camera will have Dual Pixel Autofocus, a DIGIC 7 image processor, 1080/60p video recording (there’s no 4K video), wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth confirmed, NFC likely), touchscreen functions, a slightly larger body than the original 6D, and a new battery grip.
Rumored features that haven’t yet been confirmed include a 45-point autofocus system, a viewfinder with approximately 100% coverage, and HDR/Timelapse movie modes.
The official announcement date is now two weeks away. Stay tuned!
