Here it is… our first look at how Nikon’s new flagship D5 performs at high sensitivities up to its maximum ISO of 3,276,800.
These photos were provided to PetaPixel by photographer Valentin Morariu, who got hands-on time with the camera and a chance to shoot a series of sample shots.
The D5 has a native max ISO of 102400. Expanded modes include Hi1 (ISO 204800), Hi2 (ISO 409600), Hi3 (ISO 819200), Hi4 (ISO 1638400), and Hi5 (ISO 3276800). Click each photo below to see the photo at full resolution.
“The Nikon D5 is certainly not a ‘one size fits all’ solution but from what we can see it does look to be a great solution for low light applications like sports photography and candid photo-jornalism as opposed to landscape photography,” Claff tells PetaPixel. “For now it looks like the Nikon D5 will be the best low light camera (except perhaps for some medium format ones).”
