Sigma Staff Says 50mm f/1.4 Art Lens Will ‘Probably’ Arrive in Two Months

According to Photo Rumors, one of their readers spoke to a Sigma rep at the Photography Show in Birmingham and was told that the much-anticipated 50mm f/1.4 Art series lens will make landfall in about two months time.

The 50mm f/1.4 Art lens is the one that Sigma has said will compete with ZEISS’ incredible $4,000 55mm f/1.4 Otus. That would be quite a feat, and early tests (if they are legitimate) seem to show that Sigma wasn’t bluffing.

Of course, this doesn’t exactly constitute official confirmation, and we’re still waiting for an answer to the most important question (how much will it cost!?) but it’s good to know that the lens isn’t that far off. Stay tuned and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more info become available.
