Apparently there’s such a high demand for this camera that Fujifilm is currently experiencing a shortage. The company says it’s trying to boost production to meet the demand, but if you’re clamoring for this camera you might be seeing some delays.

Fuji FinePix X100 Aperture and Shutter Demo, Preorder Now Available

Fuji’s much anticipated FinePix X100 is now available for preorder over at Adorama for $1,199. Fuji also released the above video showing the camera’s aperture and shutter systems in action. The aperture looks quite round at all f-stops, which should lead to some pretty nice looking bokeh. The shutter sound you hear is the actual shutter’s sound mixed with sound effects from the camera.

A Glimpse at the Fujifilm X100′s Futuristic Hybrid Viewfinder

There was much hype over Fujifilm’s upcoming X100 camera even before it was proudly displayed to the public at this year’s CES, with people drooling over the camera’s retro design and unique hybrid viewfinder. Fujifilm actually had a functional X100 on display at CES (unlike the mockup dummy they brought to Photokina), and Engadget was able to shove a video camera up to the viewfinder to provide the rest of us a glimpse into what it looks like. It’s pretty awesome seeing things live with useful information overlaid. Now we know what it feels like to be the Terminator.

The retro FinePix X100 made a huge splash when it was announced a couple days ago, and now more details are being revealed. The beautiful camera will be available starting March 2011 at the price of around $1,000, quite a few pennies more than what many of us were hoping for.

Engadget got some hands-on time with a non-quite-functional pre-production model. They write,

[...] we were able to score some hands-on time with a pre-production model, and we have to say, this thing just feels like a thousand bucks. It’s as solid as a stone, though light packers won’t appreciate just how heavy it is. Regardless, the body exudes quality, and the grip was as comfortable as ever.
