This is What Getty Images’ Founder Had to Say About the Sale of Corbis Images

Corbis Images announced last week that it has sold its massive collection of photos -- one of the largest archives in the world -- to the Chinese company Visual China Group, which struck a deal with Getty Images to have Corbis images sold exclusively through Getty.

As many photographers wondered about the future of their images and paychecks, Getty Images co-founder and chairman Jonathan Klein took to Twitter to celebrate his success in getting Corbis' images.

NASA Astronaut Tweets Photos of First Flowers Ever Grown in Space

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has attracted over 700,000 followers on Twitter by regularly sharing beautiful snapshots of Earth, as seen from the International Space Station.

Over the past few days, however, Kelly has been photographing something a little closer to his home: the first flowers ever grown in space.

With Google+ constantly working on making things better for photographers -- most recently by incorporating better RAW-to-JPEG conversion -- the other social networks are trying to do their part to entice the photo community as well. For Twitter, that means revamping embedded tweets so that photos are more prominent.

It's one of the photos in a project titled Geolocation: tributes to the Data stream, by photographers Nate Larson and Marni Shindelman. Each image in the series shows the location were a particular geotagged Twitter Tweet was posted.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Tweets Photos of “Mugging Attempt” as it Unfolds

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Renzo Gracie was walking on the sidewalk at 22nd street and 10th avenue in Manhattan last night, when he noticed two shady-looking fellows following him. Suspecting that they were planning to mug him, Gracie began sending live tweets and photos to his 100,000+ followers on Twitter. Once the two men finally approached him, asking for a cigarette, he decided to launch a preemptive strike by beating the crap out of the would-be assailants... while live-blogging the whole thing.

Astronaut Tweets Earth Photos from Space

For the past two weeks, Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi has been beaming down photographs of Earth from the International Space Station using his TwitPic account. The photographs, taken with a Nikon D2Xs, show various cities and landmarks around the world as the ISS flies roughly 200 miles overhead at an average of 17,227 mph.
