Canon Netherlands Video Teases Large Sensor, High Zoom PowerShot

Multi-layer sensors and high-megapixel DSLRs aren't the only cameras Canon is rumored to be working on in the "breaking the status quo" category. Already mentioned by Canon Hong Kong, a large-sensor, high-zoom PowerShot premium compact is being officially teased in a Canon Netherlands video.

Samyang is Teasing Us Yet Again, Will it Be AF Lenses This Time?

Last month, Samyang released a couple of teasers that many believed were leading to the announcement of the new logo and autofocus lenses. And while the new logo did make an appearance, the major AF update that people were expecting never came.

Now the company is teasing us yet again with an ad from their Facebook page that invites viewers to "join the journey to the next level of creativity." A journey that will apparently lead to "the second step of Samyang Optics in 2014" and begins on April 28th.

Is Lomography Preparing to Unveil a Movie Projector?

Lomography has low-fi imaging fans all aquiver thanks to a tease for an upcoming mystery product.

The Lomo news page merely shows a hand on a plastic crank, accompanied by an audio file that most listeners liken to the clicking sound of an old movie projector. (Sounds more like a playing card in a bicycle wheel to these ears, but a Lomography bicycle would just be too much to hope for.)

Final Nikon DF Teaser Up, Recaps Previous Teasers and Leaves Us Wanting More

The last Nikon DF (if it is indeed called that) teaser is out and ready for you to take a look, but honestly, there's not much left to see. The 4th and 5th teasers gave us our best look at the upcoming camera, and so you would think the 6th would be all but a reveal.

Rather, Nikon seems to have moved in the opposite direction by recapping the old teasers, showing nothing new, and letting us all sweat it out for the next two days while we wait to see if the official announcement can live up to all this hype.

Overdosing on Hype: The Danger of Uncontrolled Expectations

A Bohemian-looking man stands in a picturesque Scottish glen. Wild grasses sway in the wind, green hills loom to either side and moody, dark clouds drift along above. The man takes in the scene and fiddles with a camera around his neck. We hear satisfying mechanical clicks as he sets the aperture and shutter speed.

The shot cuts to a wide view of the man in the landscape, and we see him lift the camera to his eye, although it is still obscured from view. Another satisfying snap as he trips the shutter, and the screen fades to black. Then a brief flash of the front of a lens, and the words "Pure Photography" in dainty, white lettering.

Round 2: Nikon Releases Another Teaser for Its Upcoming Retro Full-Frame

Whether or not the camera will live up to the hype, we won't know until we've gotten our hands on it. But if there's one thing Nikon is doing right regarding the soon-to-be-released retro-styled full-frame, it's building a crap load of hype.

We've already had one teaser trailer (which you can watch here), and now, Nikon has released another, this one giving us tantalizing split-second glances of the camera that we didn't see at all in the previous ad.

Nikon Teases New Retro-Styled Full-Frame in Mysterious ‘Pure Photography’ Ad

Shortly after Sony announced the mirrorless a7 and a7R full-frames, rumors broke that Nikon had a new full-frame of its own coming in short order. As release dates and spec lists have begun to fly, anticipation has understandably grown; and now, Nikon is adding fuel to that fire by releasing a short teaser video for a "pure photography" camera.

The new VSCO Cam will come with an all new interface and, according to them, "represents major advancements in mobile photography image processing." Oh, and by the by, this one'll be free.

Leica M Mini Teased on Leica’s Website, Announcement Coming on June 11th

The iPad mini and the Mac mini. Those are two "minified" products Apple has released to give its customers a choice for products that are cheaper and more portable. It appears Leica is planning to take a page from Apple's playbook.

The camera company's website has begun teasing a new Leica Mini M, a camera that will presumably be a smaller (and possibly cheaper) version of the Leica M flagship digital rangefinder.

Nokia Teases Next Lumia’s Photo Powers, Shows Large Lens and Serious Flash

Last Friday, Nokia launched its new Lumia 928 smartphone that has a strong emphasis on photography. The device features PureView technology, optical image stabilization, a Carl Zeiss lens, and a xenon flash.

It was exciting news for photo-lovin' Nokia fans, but sit tight: there's more to come. Nokia will reportedly have a major launch event tomorrow to unveil a phone that has some serious photography chops.

HTC DSLR Lens Teaser Has Some Hoping for Canon Lens Add-Ons

HTC has been teasing the release of the rumored HTC One smartphone for the past few weeks by tweeting out cryptic photos that supposedly hint at features that will be officially announced at their press event on February 19th.

Most of these photos get just enough media attention to keep HTC in the news coming up on the Tuesday press event, but the latest photo (top) has the photography world in a bit of a stir. That's because it depicts a Canon lens, leading some sources to speculate that the HTC One will feature Canon DSLR lens add-ons.

Canon France Facebook Photo Hints at a Mysterious New Product

Canon France has published a mysterious teaser ad to its Facebook page that shows a woman pointing some kind of invisible camera at a couple of ping pong players. The short (translated) message states, "Soon, we will share information that will change the way you look at the world…"

Eye-Fi May Soon Launch Its Own Cloud Photo Sharing Service Called Circ

The next entrant to the arena looks like it will be a photography company we didn't expect: wireless SD card maker Eye-Fi.

PlayMemories Teaser Site Offers Glimpse into What Sony Camera Apps Will Be Like

We're in the year of the camera's app. Not the camera app, which you use on your phone, but the camera's app, which is found on your camera. A boatload of new cameras this year will have Internet connectivity and app support built right in, giving photographers access to all kinds of custom features and functions that weren't easily available in the old age of cameras.

While Android is one of the big operating systems manufacturers have gravitated towards, Sony has decided to go the Sony way and make its system proprietary. Instead of running Android, the Sony NEX-5R and the NEX-6 will offer apps through the PlayMemories ecosystem.

Are Olympus’ Marketing Stunts Becoming a Habit?

You might remember the Olympus marketing stunt from a few weeks ago when they sent a box complete with two walnuts and a note that simply read "coming soon" to a few different tech blogs. Since then we've seen the release of the new TG-1, but apparently Olympus isn't done with either their new releases or the marketing stunts that go along with them.
