Photographer Stuck in Vietnam After Flying with Recalled MacBook Pro

Here's one last PSA for any photographer using a 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro made between September 2015 and February 2017: if you haven't checked your serial number to see if your battery has been recalled, do so ASAP. Not only are you putting yourself in danger, you might end up stranded in a foreign country, like British travel photographer Julian Elliott.

A few weeks ago, we shared some photos taken by adventure travel photographer Dr. Andrew Peacock who was stranded on the Russian ship M.V. Akademik Shokalskiy in the Antarctic. The thing is, we didn't want to stop there. When we visited his site in search of his contact information, we immediately fell in love with his photography.

Our "Permission to Share Photos" email quickly evolved into a "Permission to Share Photos and Interview Request" email. Fortunately for us, he said yes.

A few weeks back we shared an incredible Antarctic find: photographs taken nearly 100 years ago by the photographer on one of Sir Earnest Shackleton's expeditions into the frozen wasteland. The irony is that, as we were sharing these amazing photos, a present-day photographer was himself stuck on a ship in Antarctica awaiting rescue.

For the past five years, photographer Amy Stein has been driving across America and capturing portraits random strangers who are stranded on the side of the road after having their cars break down. She often drives on freeways hours upon hours before coming upon a new subject for the series.
