Hilarious Apple Ad Parody Imagines the iPhone 5 as a DSLR for Losers

What would happen if Apple made a DSLR? Web video artist Adam Sacks thinks it would be a hit with iPhone users who use their phones for the sole purpose of taking pictures of food, applying filters to them, and then sharing them online. He created this humorous parody of an Apple commercial in which Greg Mansfield, the “Vice President of iPhone Product Design”, introduces the iPhone 5. The new phone is reinvented as a DSLR to make everyone’s life easier, and features a single app: Camera.

Photographer Behind Now-Iconic ‘Texting Hillary’ Photo Wasn’t Amused — At First

During the past week, a new meme called “Texts From Hillary” has been taking the web by storm. It involves two photographs of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton checking her phone on a flight while wearing sunglasses. By combining the images with other photographs and witty captions, the creators imagined what her texts conversations with other famous individuals might be like. Not everyone found the meme hilarious: the Washington Post writes that photographer Diana Walker wasn’t amused when she first saw her images being used:

[...] the incident underscores the conflicts between photographers, who want to control their work, and the wide world of the Internet, where everything seems free. “There needs to be a dialogue about this,” she says.

And she wishes that people who want to grab photos from the Internet and use them for their own purposes would make an effort to contact their original creators. “Before they used it, how about a call to me?” she asked. But, she admits, that might have resulted in no such memorable meme. “I’m not sure I would have said yes.”

However, the site’s creators soon added a credit line for Walker with each photo and the photographer — along with Clinton herself — is now “amused and taken with the idea that this picture is all over the world.”

It was shot using a Canon 5D Mark II, a Canon 24-70mm, and a Steadicam Pilot.

Spoof Video Pokes Fun at DSLR Rigs

In 2008, the Nikon D90 became the first DSLR to offer HD video recording, a feature that has become pretty standard on new DSLR models. Third-party companies have also taken advantage of the HDSLR craze by offering a boatload of specialized HDSLR filmmaking products, including camera rigs that are constantly becoming larger and more crazy-looking. DSLR film school Neumann Films created this funny short film poking fun at huge and expensive rigs.

The gear game of DSLR cameras is getting out of hand. When a camera rig costs more than your camera something is wrong. These were the thoughts that fueled the creation of our latest video “DSLR Camera Rigs”. [#]

So this is what goes on at the brainstorming sessions of rig makers…

Adobe Photoshop Workspace in Real Life

Maybe this is what “Photoshop” would be like if computers had never been invented. This workspace has it all — tools, rulers, layers, etc… These are probably the tools the “I Have PSD” guy uses.

The above clip from British sitcom Red Dwarf pokes fun at this cliche, and takes it to the extreme. Enjoy.
