Nikon just announced a completely new line of premium compact cameras. The DL series (the DL stands for "Digital Lens") is geared toward serious photographers and packs powerful 1-inch sensors into cameras of different focal lengths. The series launches with the DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, and DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6.
GoPro just announced the financial results of its latest quarter, and things aren't looking very good for the flagging camera company. Investors were already bracing for the worst after GoPro slashed 7% of its workforce in January and announced a huge drop in camera sales.
Quarterly revenue has dropped ~31% from a year ago to $436.6 million, and the company lost $34.4 million in the quarter, GoPro says. In response, GoPro says it will be cutting down its camera lineup to offer just 3 main models starting in April 2016.

Sony makes a lineup of action cams as well, and today they’ve announced their latest adventure seekers camera, the Sony Action Cam Mini: a fun-sized version of the AS100v that packs just as much power into just two-thirds the size.
Since it was announced back in 2006, Canon's 70-200mm f/4L IS lens has been an attractive option for photographers who want a lighter and cheaper alternative to the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS. For the price of one stop, one could get a lens that's nearly half as heavy (1.7lb vs 3.3lb) and significantly less expensive. Nikon shooters may soon have a similar choice as well: Nikon is planning to fill in this gap in its lens lineup by announcing its own 70-200mm f/4 a week from now.
