Need a laugh? Check out the official Instagram account of the Reykjavík metropolitan police (Reykjavík is the largest and capital city of Iceland). It’s a strangely humorous account that’s filled with silly snapshots showing that the officers know how to have a good time while busting criminals and keeping their city streets safe.

Pranking Tourists with Magical Photobombing

If you appreciate simple pranks, here’s a photo-related one you may find amusing. Greg Benson of MediocreFilms recently stood in front of the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard and photobombed tourists while helping to take a photo of them. The clever trick involved an accomplice and a cardboard cutout of himself.

Another simple picture prank we’ve shared in the past is the Polaroid picture person swapping prank.

Mike Mellia is an advertising and fine art photographer based in New York City. Over the past year, he has been working on a project titled “A Selfie a Day Keeps the Doctor Away.” It’s an ongoing series of self-portraits captured in a studio and shared through Instagram.

Mellia poses as a wide range of fictional personas and includes clever and humorous captions to go along with each image. He says the photo above shows “that one time an affluent divorcee invited me to clean her pool.”

Venezuela Accidentally Used a Photo of an American Detainee in a Tourism Ad

Here’s a rather humorous example of why it’s important to source your photographs correctly and carefully. Venezuela’s state run television has taken down a photo after it was discovered that they had been trying to promote tourism with a photo of an American that had been detained.

A Tongue-in-Cheek Take on Camera Test Videos

Chicago-based photographer and videographer Jon Cole made this test video for the Sony FS7 that puts a humorous tongue-in-cheek spin on generic camera test videos. It features a “model’s commentary” voiceover by his wife that imagines what the subjects in these videos are thinking when their friend or family member gets a new camera and asks them to stand in for a “quick test”.
