Humor: Chicken-Based Image Stabilizing Rig Delivers Super-Steady Results

Optical image stabilization is all about keeping the camera still even as the housing shakes or otherwise moves around. And when it comes to stabilization in nature, few creatures are as good at keeping their camera (read: head) perfectly still as the chicken.

So why not strap a camera onto a chicken’s head and turn the guy (or gal) into a fowl-stabilized action cam!? Why, no reason at all! Read more…

Lady Flips Off Engagement Photo, Couple Finds it Hilarious

flipoff1

I suppose we all owe a small cultural debt to this anonymous older lady at a recent Colorado Rockies game. Thanks to her, we now know what the exact opposite of a photobomb looks like.

That would be having a cranky grandma type show up in the money shot of your carefully arranged proposal, flipping the bird at the camera to show exactly how she felt about the interruption. Read more…

Ridiculous Lumia 1020 KIRF Boasts a ’41-Megaplxel’ Speaker Instead of the Camera

1020fake1

Most everyone is familiar with knockoffs — some might even own a couple — but when it comes to the world of tech the general wisdom is to stay far away. A Prado purse or Foakley sunglasses aren’t going to be much of an issue, but a fake Canon speedlight can become a serious problem.

Of course there’s a big difference between a knockoff and what’s referred to as a KIRF (keeping it real fake) product, and the most recent fake we’ve run across is just that: a Lumia 1020 look-alike that boasts ’41-megaplxels’ of audio performance where the PureView camera should be. Read more…

Humorous Ad Paints an Accurate Picture of Smartphone Photo Culture

If you’ve been to a play or other event put on by your child’s elementary school recently, you might have experienced something similar to what the Nokia ad above depicts. Humor: What if Disney Princesses Shared Photos on Instagram?

disney

I admit that I am an Instagram Junkie. To paraphrase that classic SNL line: “I got a fever and the only prescription is MORE INSTAGRAM.” It’s not that I really enjoy sharing images of my dog and what I had for dinner, it’s more that I love looking at the uploads of those I follow. Following celebrities is a lot of fun, as you get to see a glimpse inside their world. What are they thinking? Where are they going? What are they doing?

BforBel.com knows this and took it a step further…all the way to Disney.

Portraits of Toddlers Reacting to Tasting a Lemon for the First Time

pucker16

Most of us can agree that having a toddler is a lot less fun than being one, but photographing one… well that can fall closer to the latter given the right circumstances. For photographers April Maciborka and David Wile, the right circumstances were just a lemon slice and a cute reaction away.

Thus was born the cute series pucker. in which toddlers react to their first ever taste of the sour yellow fruit that life’s always giving us with the expectation that we make lemonade. Read more…

Photo Prank: Twins Pretend to ‘Teleport’ While Strangers Take Their Picture

It’s the weekend, which means we get to share something silly with you to help you either forget about last week, put off thinking about next week, or both.

Last week, we shared a humorous video in which pranksters used a squirt gun camera to covertly spray unwitting tourists in London. In this week’s video, twins Jack and Finn of JacksGap pretend to “teleport” mid picture to the astonishment of the stranger they roped into taking their photo. Read more…
