Image sharing site Dronestagram is no Instagram, with its 600 Million users, but the drone-specific social network does contain some of the best aerial photography on the Internet. And today, they revealed their 20 best drone photos of 2016.
The Dronestagram social network, in collaboration with National Geographic, have announced the winners of their 3rd annual International Drone Photography Contest... and there are some real stunners among the top shots.
Drone photography is still new enough that we haven't really seen the true potential of this new media unlocked -- yet.
While the FAA and others bicker about privacy and regulation, some photographers are out there exploring the boundaries of this new technology... and all of them seem to have shown up for the first Drone Photography Competition put together by Dronestagram with help from Nat Geo France, GoPro and a few others.
Although drone photography might lead you onto some sticky legal ground in some states, it is nonetheless often quite beautiful. It makes sense that those who have spent good money on drones are eager to put that money to use, and now they have an Instagram-like social network on which to share their results.
