A Sneak Peek of the Magical New Shake Reduction Tool Coming to Photoshop

The Internet let out a collective gasp back in October 2011 when Adobe gave an advanced preview of a crazy new image deblurring feature it has been working on. The feature can take a photo that's blurry due to camera shake, calculate the movements that caused the blur, and "reverse it" to create a sharper photo.

It looks like the feature isn't too far off now. Today Adobe released the above video that offers a sneak peek at what the tool actually looks like inside an upcoming version of Photoshop. Just as with the demo from two years ago, this video will drop many jaws.

SmartDeblur Does Science Fiction-esque Enhancing on Blurry Photos

People often laugh and poke fun at the cliche of impossible image enhancements seen in TV shows and movies, but you won't be laughing when you see what SmartDeblur can do -- you'll be gawking in amazement. Created by programmer and image processing expert Vladimir Yuzhikov, the program can magically reveal details in photographs that are blurry due to poor focusing and/or shaky hands.

Blurity Magically Deblurs Photos Affected by Slow Shutters and Shaky Hands

In October of 2011, the tech world went into a frenzy after Adobe showed off some crazy image deblurring research it's working on. By calculating the camera movements that caused the blur in the first place, the algorithm is able to "reverse" the motion blur and sharpen the photo. If you've been impatiently waiting for the feature to show up in a new version of Photoshop, you might want to check out Blurity, a similar blur removal tool that's already available. The software has been available to Windows users for a while now, but just recently launched for Mac OS X as well.

The State of Adobe’s Image Deblurring Technology

Yesterday we shared some clearer comparison images from Adobe's jaw-dropping Image Deblurring demo. Cari Gushiken over on the Photoshop.com blog has written up a post that sheds a little more light on how the idea came about, the current challenges they face, and where they see it headed.

Before and After Comparisons of Adobe’s Amazing Image Deblurring Feature

Last week we shared a sneak peek at some jaw-dropping image deblurring technology currently in development at Adobe. The video wasn't the best quality and was captured from the audience, so we didn't get to see the example images very clearly. Adobe has now released an official video of the demo, giving us a better glimpse at what the feature can do.
