Amateur Photographer Experiments with Using a 4K Video Still as its Magazine Cover Photo

AmPhot4K_1

The idea that 4K+ resolution video will soon become a big thing in still photography is one rooted in convenience. While it doesn’t seem video will overtake still photography for good anytime soon, Amateur Photographer wanted to dip their toes in the water.

Apparently, the magazine erred when it decided to put Paulina Gretzky (daughter of famed hockey player Wayne Gretzky and fiancé of pro golfer Dustin Johnson) on the cover instead of an actual… you know… golfer.

But rather than get caught up in all that, Orlando-based photographer Cy Cyr decided to spoof the cover instead. Read more…

Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker rarely if ever pose together, but had reluctantly agreed to pose for an SI cover which would come out a couple of days later, to coincide with the beginning of the finals.

BTS: Shooting James Cameron in a Water Tank for the Cover of National Geographic

The June cover of National Geographic features a photo of explorer and director James Cameron comfortably posing underwater in front of what looks to be his submarine. In the past, we’ve shared how you can create a cheap and simple rain cover for your camera and lens using a Ziploc bag. While that solution is effective in protecting your gear, it might make it a bit difficult to adjust your lens and operate the rings.

If you’d like a little more access to your lens, you can also create a rain guard using the plastic cylindrical cover that comes with writable optical discs.
