Dancing Around the World with a Camera in Hand

Seattle-based techie Matt Harding became an Internet celebrity back in 2005 after a video of him dancing in various locations around the world went viral online. Now he’s back again with a new 2012 edition that’s sure to go just as viral. Harding spent months traveling to tens of countries around the world, capturing short clips of himself dancing with thousands of people. The project is titled, “Where the Hell is Matt?“.

A Tiny Planet Journey Around the World Using Google Street View

Chemin Vert is a project created by Italian artist Giacomo Miceli using photographs from Google Street View. It’s a journey through five continents over four seasons at a simulated 930 mph. The video above was created by mapping the Street View images as stereographic projections (i.e. “tiny planets”), but there’s also an interactive, immersive version of the project here.

Analog Camera Kits to Travel Between Photojournalists Around the World

Analog Camera Kits to Travel Between Photojournalists Around the World focused mini

Having cameras passed from person to person around the world isn’t a new idea, but FOCUSED is a project that takes it a step further by using entire SLR camera kits. Five of the kits will be sent out in early November to photojournalists, with each kit containing a vintage 35mm SLR preloaded with ISO 200 film, a manual focus lens (24mm, 35mm, or 50mm), a small notebook, an emergency roll of film, and a camera strap.

The bags will be shipped across the world from one photojournalist to the next – one in a small town in the middle of the U.S., another among relief efforts in a natural disaster zone, or working the White House press pool. Each photojournalist will get only one click of the shutter. [#]

The photographers will also be asked to document their photos by adding journal entries to the notebooks. The kits will be sent home once the film is finished, and the resulting photographs will be published online, along with their notes.

Around the World in 2000 Pictures

“Around the World in 2000 Pictures” is a neat project by Alex Profit — the same guy that did “Around the World in 80 Seconds” — in which he takes us on a tour of major world cities (Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, St. Petersbourg, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and London) through 2000 photographs in stop-motion. He completed the entire project in just 24 days shooting a Canon 5D Mark II. We love the way he uses photographs to transition from one city to another seamlessly.
