One of the key features afforded by the fusion of photo sharing and social networking is people tagging. On services such as Facebook and Flickr, adding information to identify the people in photos is as easy as clicking/tapping a face and telling the service who that subject is.
Instagram this morning announced that it’s joining in on the people-tagging fun. The company has released a new “Photos of You” feature that makes tagging a person as easy as adding a hashtag.

At Photokina 2012 last September, Zeiss announced that it was working on a new family of lenses for mirrorless cameras. This past March, we got a closer look at the lenses, which were outed as a 12mm f/2.8, 32mm f/1.8, and 50mm f/2.8 for Fuji’s X mount and Sony’s E mount.
Today, the company revealed even more details about the lenses, which are branded “Touit,” publishing specs, product pages, and sample photographs.

Wow. The rumor of a new Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens we shared earlier today has just been confirmed by Sigma. The company has just officially announced the lens, which is the world’s first lens that offers a fixed f/1.8 aperture throughout its zoom range. That’s a pretty big deal.

Google has officially announced the specs for its Glass wearable computer/camera. Of interest to readers of this blog is the fact that the camera will be able to capture decent photographs — at least resolution-wise. It’ll be a 5-megapixel camera that has WiFi capabilities. The camera will also be able to capture 720p video and audio.

After having their photos and some specs leaked this past weekend, the Sony NEX-3N and A58 finally became real today through an official announcement by Sony. The new mirrorless and pellicle mirror cameras were unveiled alongside a set of new lenses, and offer some pretty standard upgrades to current models.

Olympus isn’t the only camera company toying around with the concept of cheap body cap lenses. At the CP+ show in Japan, Pentax took the wraps off a body cap lens of its own for its Q system line of mirrorless cameras. Officially called the “Mount Cap Lens,” the accessory is a pint-sized hyper-focal lens that will reportedly produce toy-camera-style photographs.
