One of the most highly regarded Photoshop alternatives is now available on Windows. Affinity Photo today launched its free public beta for Windows users, allowing anyone to download the popular pro photo editing software.

Affinity Photo first launched as a free public beta for Mac back in February 2015, amassing over 230,000 downloads before officially launching in July 2015 with a $50 price tag.

The app was selected as Apple’s “App of the Year” that year, and currently has a 5/5 star rating in the iTunes App Store.

The new Windows version of Affinity Photo is a feature-for-feature clone of the Mac version, so you’ll find all the familiar tools.

As with the Mac version, Affinity Photo is still focused on reducing bloat and optimizing for power and speed. All the tools at your disposal work in real-time, so you won’t have to wait or click “Apply” to see your results.

Basic features in Affinity Photo are non-destructive editing, RAW processing, and end-to-end color management.

In addition to the existing tools in Affinity Photo for Mac, Affinity Photo for Windows also brings a host of new features that are part of the software’s upcoming v1.5 update. The tools include advanced HDR merge with 32-bit linear color space, focus stacking, batch processing, and 360-degree photo features.

As with the Mac version, Affinity Photo for Windows will also cost $50 — a one-time payment — when the free beta test period ends and the app officially launches. The price also covers future updates up to Affinity Photo version 2.0.
