‘Life’: A Movie About Photographer Dennis Stock and Actor James Dean

If you enjoy watching movies about photographers, here’s an upcoming one that you can keep your eye out for: Life is a movie about the friendship between Magnum and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock and Hollywood actor James Dean.

The story follows Stock, who receives an assignment to shoot the rising star before the release of the East of Eden (Dean’s first major screen role). As the duo travels across the United States, a friendship develops. Stock shot a number of well known portraits of Dean, including this iconic one in New York City in 1955:

Photographer-turned-filmmaker Anton Corbijn directed the movie, which stars Robert Pattinson as Dennis Stock and Dane DeHaan as James Dean.
