external Football Team Experimenting With Helmet Cam, Gets ‘Inside’ the Quarterback’s Head —NFL

New England Patriots at Washington Redskins 08/28/09It looks like pro football is taking a real interest in all sorts of imaging technology. In addition to yesterday’s news that NBC’s Sunday Night Fooball will be installing 24-camera bullet time rigs in each end zone for a Matrix-like replay experience, it looks like at least one team is beginning to play around with helmet cams in practice.

Unfortunately, these don’t seem to be for the public’s benefit, but the New England Patriots have started making their quarterbacks wear helmet cams so that they can get “inside” their head and better coach them. But who knows, 1st person might someday soon join bullet time replays on Sunday nights.
