external NYTimes Photographer Wins I SHOT IT B&W Contest —I SHOT IT

bwphotoNew York Times photographer Damon Winter has won I SHOT IT‘s 2013 black-and-white photo contest with a photo showing US soldiers huddling around a soldier who was injured by a land mine, shielding him from the wind caused by a helicopter above. Winter wins $20,000 and a new Leica M Monochrom camera.

Winter is the same photojournalist who got his Hipstamatic photos of war on the front page of the NYTimes in 2010. I SHOT IT is the photo contest company that recently sold a 25.1% stake to Leica owner and chairman Andreas Kaufmann.
