Panasonic Lumix GF6 Photos and Specs Leaked by Review Site

techradar

Panasonic had quite a leaky day today. New details of its upcoming GF6 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera hit the Interwebs via separate sources, giving us a better idea of what should be expecting very shortly. The camera will reportedly be announced on April 9th, so we’re less than a week away from hearing about this camera straight from the horses mouth.

First off, it seems that someone with a twitchy finger over at TechRadar accidentally published a hands-on review of the camera a bit too early (likely breaking NDA agreements they signed with Panasonic). Earlier today, an article titled “Hands on: Panasonic GF6 review” appeared on the site.

It was quickly taken down, but not before four of their photographs of the camera started spreading across the web. There’s a gallery of the leaked photos over on Imgur and some on the DPReview forums.

Engadget reports that the camera has passed through Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (their equivalent of the FCC), which has been inspecting the built-in WiFi feature of the camera. Wireless communication may be one of the big features in GF6.

Although the TechRadar review has been removed from their website, it can still be accessed through Google’s cache. In it, we find that the camera features the same 16-megapixel sensor as the GX1, a new 180-degree tilting touchscreen, a mode dial, a new Venus processing engine, built-in Wi-Fi, and in-camera effects and editing tools.

Another interesting feature in the camera is Near Field Communications, which will allow photos and videos to be transferred by simply touching two cameras together.

The camera will cost roughly $680 bundled with a new 14-42mm kit lens.
