Pentax-o’-Lantern: An Incredibly Detailed Halloween Camera Pumpkin

Happy Halloween y’all! If you’re planning on carving up a pumpkin for your doorstep this year and are looking for a challenging design, check out this amazingly detailed pumpkin sent in by reader Dan Savoie.

He tells us,

This pumpkin was carved by Michael MacMurchy who is a former photography student from Sheridan College in Oakville, ON, Canada. Michael carved this pumpkin for his girlfriend Kylie and his girlfriends father Stephen who is a Sales Representative for Pentax Ricoh Imaging Canada Inc. The carving on the front of the pumpkin is the new Pentax K5 II. Michael also carved the back of the pumpkin so that it would project the words PENTAX onto the back wall.

Here’s a closer view so you can see the details:

If you can’t even carve a face into a pumpkin without botching it — we’re in that camp — perhaps you can think about doing the project we featured last year: turning a pumpkin into a simple pinhole camera for photographing trick-or-treaters.
