First Leaked Photos of the Upcoming Leica M10? leakedm10

Leica Rumors has published two small images showing what may be Leica’s followup to its M9 rangefinder: the Leica M10. The camera in the photos appears to have a larger screen than the M8/M9, and is being held in a manner that suggests that it has autofocusing and live view.

For comparison, here’s a photo of the back of the M8:

First Leaked Photos of the Upcoming Leica M10?

We’re only about two months away from Photokina 2012 where this camera may be officially unveiled.

Man, I sure hope that Leica can find someone that knows how to hold a camera to test out the prototypes of their $8000+ cameras…

… so if they release an AF capable body… that would mean there would have to be a complete new line of AF compatible Leica lenses… $$$$

The way he’s holding it suggests AF and liveview, but I know what you mean.

It suggests more that it is just someone who doesn’t know how to shoot an M. It looks like someone is holding a $10000+ setup like a $100 P&S.

At least the girl in the first photo can hold it properly…

And I hope to God Leica never perverts themselves with AF. Not that AF isn’t useful, and it’s a great technology, but it’s just not for the Leica M series.

Live view maybe- auto focus seems highly unlikely – apart from the focus motors, electrical connections etc, rangefinder lenses are not wide open between shots like an SLR, they remain stopped down to working aperture-

Somewhere there is a trust fund baby licking his lips over this camera. I’ll take a D4 though.

The fingers illustrate a key feature of the M10: It comes with a servant to hold, carry and operate it for you, so you can create your photographic masterpieces without having to sully yourself with manual labor.

This is a key feature for the typical Leica purchaser: an entertainment celebrity, financial-industry titan, or Middle Eastern potentate who has personal staff to take the drudgery out of all aspects of his/her gilded existence.
As to the hand positions: Well, you know how hard it is to find good help nowadays. The M10′s personal attendant will come fitted with a remotely-controlled shock collar so that the owner can punish such transgressions from the key fob of his/her Bugatti Veyron.

    Yes!

I agree with you. AF is NOT for the M, and I sincerely hope that Leica refrain from it… In retrospect, I honestly can’t quite quantify why you care so much about the way the person’s holding the camera.

The official camera of well heeled dentists the world over.

    Honestly looks like an M8

Maybe this will drive the M3 prices down… Please do.

why don’t these guys just disguise the latest M10 as M8 and test it? wouldn’t that make sense?
