Capture HD Video with Depth Using a DSLR and Microsoft Kinect

RGBDToolkit is a project that layers HD video recording with a DSLR over Microsoft Kinect’s depth maps, creating trippy 3D footage that may be an indication of what we’ll be documenting life with in the future.

Instructions for mounting your DSLR to a Kinect device can be found here Once you get the two cameras paired up, a checkerboard pattern is used to calibrate them. You can then freely shoot footage with the two cameras simultaneously, and then use the the toolkit to combine the image and depth data.

    Reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nTFjVm9sTQ
Could be cool to see what can be with the data afterwards.

Edit: Could they get a few of those rigs and put them around a person and film their head and make a perfect 3D reproduction of their head?

why not just use two kinects?
