We’re on the verge of seeing the successor to the Canon 5D Mark II, the 5D Mark III, and photos and specs are already starting to emerge ahead of the camera’s rumored March 2nd announcement. The camera will reportedly have a 22MP sensor, 61 autofocus points, 100% viewfinder coverage, a 3.2-inch LCD screen, dual CF/SD slots, and a price tag of around $3,500.

Here are a couple more leaked photos:

There are also a few new lenses rumored to be on the horizon: a Canon EF-S 18-125mm II, an EF 200-400mm f/4L IS 1.4x, and an EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens.

OOPS! LOL… Can I get one with a kick start?

  • Wendy

     Yes, my 5D is knackered

Looks like your people were wrong.

Hey, Congrats! I got my eos 1d-x so I won’t be needing another one.

The 1/3 scaling factor is not going to help.  It’s the line-skipping that causes the hideous aliasing in the current Canons, not some weird multiple.

For a non-even multiple, all they’d have to do is start the video scanning at the nearest multiple within the sensor’s area, losing negligible area around the perimeter. That’s undoubtedly what they do anyway, since we know they’re not downscaling properly.

They really need to implement at least some quick-&-dirty pixel averaging in order to achieve proper downscaling.  If they don’t do that with the 5D III and the successor to the 7D, Canon has blown it big-time.

Shocking that a highly competitive company doesn’t divulge its product plans to random schmoes.  THE GALL.

Looks like your “friends at Canon” were full of shit.

1/3 exact line skipping + good pixel binding does help A LOT.

Much better than 1/2.77 skipping (for instance) + pixel binding.

5D Mark III already done :)

“If you can’t afford a camera like this it only means you don’t really need a camera like this, so buy a cheaper one.”

Another smug moron who doesn’t know anything about cameras.  After this pathetic comment, he headed immediately to a BMW forum to try embarrass himself with similar remarks.  Needless to say, he’s posting from the seat of his 1987 Sentra on his first-gen phone, trying to call people “poor.”

Heck, my people are Canon reps, what can I say, and I made the switch to a Nikon D4 so maybe they’re not too happy with me LOL!!!!! Enjoy your cameras people!

  • Tinnu D’costa

    Nokia’s 41MP is professional camera’s 5 MP… Don’t think to compare phone camera and DSLR…

I suppose posting as a guest is the only thing that kept your reputation in tact ;)
