‘Genetic Portraits’ Comparing the Faces of Family Members

“Genetic Portraits” is a series by Canadian photographer Ulric Collette in which he blends the portraits of two members of the same family into a single face. It’s interesting to see the similarities and differences among people who share DNA — especially when there’s identical twins.

You can find more portraits from the project here.

I admit. I used my hand to cover up one part of the image, to look what one person would look like…! Very nice idea.

I kind of enjoyed the way it was almost in some like a past and present sort of thing. Or Future perhaps would be more accurate?

This is so wild! And it reminds me of the past weekend when I had 3 great nieces staying at my home for a Girls Only Sleepover. The youngest, about age 6, has a very animated air about her with the requisite expressive face to match. I noticed viewing her face from her right profile she looked exactly like her uncle and my nephew Gregory. Viewing her face from her left she looked exactly like her mother and my niece Nicole (Gregory’s big sister). If you look at her directly, she looks just like my recently departed husband (her great uncle). But the more excited she gets and the more animated she becomes she looks like her great grandmother (my late mother-in-law). Okay so this is all being captured in my mind’s eye, but it sure would be cool to see a composite photo similar to the ones posted.
