Reuters Team Photo Gear for Shooting the Royal Wedding

The highly publicized wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton is happening tomorrow, and Reuters will be sending a 15 member team composed of photographers from all across Europe to cover the event. The photo above by team member Phil Noble shows the crazy amount of gear he and photographer Kai Pfaffenbach will be carrying.

The plan however (as thorough as it is) involves some serious kit. Between us we will carry 10 cameras and a vast array of glass from 800 and 600mm lenses down to a 15mm fish eye and an even wider lens on a Go-Pro action camera. Conservatively this is 50kg (110 pounds) of kit each.

We hear they’re also looking for anyone with a spare donkey that could help lug around the equipment.

Alot of nice gear! Means nothing when you add in rain, Paparazzi, the fact you only have 2 arms and the pure chaos of carrying and operating all that crap! GOOD LUCK!

Couldn’t they have picked a time during the year when it rains less?

Wouldn’t leave those bodies open like that, also notice no CF cards or any backup hard drives. I think the Monopod might not even go under any of the lenses, but they use some smart way to attach the gopro on the mono pod to get a high angle shot. Also only see 8 camera’s don’t think its enough for a team of 15 members.

    @ Chung Dha Lam.

Read it again. It’s not for all 15 photographers. It says in the article

“The photo above by team member Phil Noble shows the crazy amount of gear he and photographer Kai Pfaffenbach will be carrying.”

    That’s just two photographers’ kit.

What I want to know is why there’s a GoPro amidst all that gear.

  • Mike Philippens

I also see some radio triggers, so a couple of cams are going to be mounted on a fixed position and will be remote controlled. Just like at a football match, where there are about 10 camera’s behind the goal, all remote controlled.

@ Chung Dha Lam: they just want to show the equipment. CF Cards are obviously somewhere in the trolleys.

I wonder how much all these cost and how many photographers are using them.

I reiterate the first post. “Why are those camera bodies open?”.  might as well let a child play with them in a sandbox.  might as well let a child play with them in a sandbox.
