Flickr Passes the 5 Billion Photo Mark

The above photo by Aaron Yeo, titled “Woodwards Collage“, has the honor of being the 5 billionth photograph uploaded to Flickr. According to the blog Media Culpa, Flickr receives about a billion photographs per year, while 2.5 billion photos are uploaded per month to Facebook.

There’s a mind-boggling number of photos being created and uploaded to the Interwebs every day.

Neat how a photo(s) from Vancouver is the 5 Billionth photo uploaded.

I bet if he got a “You just uploaded the 5 Billionth Image” message, he would have just closed it saying “Stupid internet spam”

Doesn’t look like a photo to me, more like a digital composition of various photo’s. Note the lines in the sky…

The difference between a Flickr photo and a Facebook one? The Flickr one isn’t showing that drunken stupor you were in when hanging out with the guys last weekend with a caption of: “Dude, I was sooooo wasted!” Flickr tends to be a bit more serious, not always, but often.
